The purpose of the new Degree in Business Management, which is taught fully in English, is to enhance the knowledge about businesses and enterprises with particular focus on:
- main organizational and structuring elements of a business;
- best management practices in different lifecycle stages of a business.
The Degree deeply studies the main processes and functions (i.e. marketing, production, organization, accounting, strategy, planning and control) related to different types of businesses and companies.
The objective is to develop specific “managerial and operational” skills by using the best practices available in team working and problem solving. The teaching program is structured in two levels of modular units. The first and starting level of modular units is focused on the basic concepts and principles of management and provides a solid knowledge of economics, law, statistics and mathematics. The next level of modular units addresses specific managerial issues and practices in an international perspective (i.e. involving in the lectures visiting professors from abroad).
The use of English as a main language allows students to learn specific international terminology. Moreover, the business case approach used in the lectures, which involves the students in discussions and debates, leads to the improvement of communicational and relational skills.
The lecture timetable is designed in modular fractions. Each module is taught one at time and builds on the previous module. Each module is considered as a separate unit and is followed by a short break and an appropriate exam.
During the program, students have to apply and follow a minimum internship period of month in a firm or a company. This allows them to practice the concepts they learned during the modules.
Employment opportunities after graduation are different and mainly related to the following:
- obtaining positions in different companies and industries (manufacturing, services, consulting, finance, insurance, governmental) related to managerial and operational tasks in accounting, finance and control (AFC), marketing and organization departments, or in supporting entrepreneurial activities;
- qualifying to start a professional activity in management consulting, either as a professional accountant or a consultant/advisor in planning and control, finance, marketing, organization or other consulting services.
Candidates who want to continue their studies at a Postgraduate level may apply for the following Faculty of Economics’ Degrees fully taught in English:
Admission requirements are related to the general Enrolment Test (in common with all the degrees of the Faculty) and a “certified” knowledge of English speaking and writing (i.e. minimum First Certificate). In the absence of appropriate English certifications the adequate English knowledge will be verified trough a Test.
The Degree in Business and Management is part of the international initiative of the Faculty of Economics, which is now recognized in many international scientific agreements and exchange programs for students and academics from foreign universities.
The courses of every semester will be structured through autonomous didactic modules followed by
the final exams. Such innovated model (typical of the business school) will allow to welcome a
greater number of Erasmus students and visiting professor from our Universities partner.
The new articulation example is presented in the following scheme:
